A Year of Transitions

I started the drawing above in June 2020, a year ago, which was the last time I made a post here. I don’t think it needs to be said that the world is in a crazy state right now. But this post, is good news.

In February this year I bought a van and used it to move down to Orlando, of all places. I lived out of that van for a month while I got a job and an apartment. It’s wild that it worked, but now I’m here, set up in an insanely nice place. In this studio, I have more space than I’ve had in my life and I feel so free. I’ve only been here two months and I’ve already gotten so much work done on HRD and other projects.

I love it here, I have so much more energy, and though I’m working at a very intense job now, I still have time for the things I love and things will only get better from here. I’m still reminding myself, I live here now, this is indefinite. I might not live here forever, but I can’t foresee moving away anytime soon.

HRD is still slow moving, the edit and rewites have been hard with the move and the difficult living situation I was at before, but we’re making progress again. I’ve been working especially hard on the cover of HRD, which will be especially cute with Kip on the cover for the first time! And by first time, I mean in my first drafts of the covers, it was originally Sil and Emilie on the cover, I still love that version, but it needed to be updated. I’m sure I will repurpose that concept.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen a lot of the concept art I’ve done for HRD so far. It really is one of my favorite books in the lineup and I think that’s one of the reasons it’s been so hard to edit.

I’m so excited to get back to work, and share this adventure with you, Halo’s Rag Doll is going to be a blast, and I can’t even tell you how stoked I am for book 4. I announced on instagram last year that book’s three and four will be released in tandem, however it’s looking more likely that they will be about 6 month’s apart. Book 4 will go very quickly as I’m beyond confident it’s in an excellent state, ready for editing with minimal rewrites.

I’ve made a bunch of updates to the website, from the characters to snippets about HRD on the Books tab, so feel free to go check those out. And stay tuned! I’ll be posting a sneak peak of Halo’s Rag Doll very soon!~
